Sordid Lives

New Conservatory Theatre Center, San Francisco CA, May 2017

Written by Del Shore and Directed by Dennis Lickteig, with whom I'd worked on several other productions at NCTC, this production was a bit of a queer dream come true for me. Telling the story of a conservative, east Texan family in the late 90s who must bury the family matriarch after she dies in scandalous circumstances, I'd seen the movie based on the play many times and was a big fan, as the setting and characters really hit home for this Louisiana backwoods country boy who came of age in the 90s. I based a lot of the character designs on people I knew from real life (including myself).  Favorite Costume: Brother Boy's Funeral Dress (duh!). Special thanks to David Carver-Ford for styling all the fabulous wigs!
