I chose the four alchemical elements as a theme for a set of masks for a masquerade ball. I used a simple papier-mache base since it was just a one-off event. I used regular acrylic paint to cover, and then decorated each mask with different methods: glued wired ribbons for fire; sediment, stones, and metallic wire for earth; brocade scales for water; and chiffon and feathers for air.
