Mr. Punch was the first project I worked on with the puppet troupe Rogue Artists Ensemble in Los Angeles. They had already performed it before in smaller settings, and they wanted to remake several of the costume pieces, especially the full-body costumes worn for the “life-sized” puppets. As Assistant Designer I worked with their Costume Designer Kerry Hennessey to rebuild some of the pieces and repair others, including Mr. Punch, the Doctor, and Polly.  The best challenges were building a new tail for the mermaid and creating a pregnant suit for one life-size Polly puppet that would allow a baby to be ‘cut out’ of her stomach onstage.
