Gogol Project

Gogol Project combined three of Russian author Nikolai Gogol’s most famous short stories into one hilarious tale of a postman’s life-changing coat, a rogue nose, and an insane man who hears dogs speak poetry to each other and thinks he’s the queen of Spain.  I assisted the costume designer by designing and building the nose costume and the smaller noses that appear first, giving the impression of a growing nose.  One of the noses even squirted water for a drowning scene.  As one of five puppet designers, I designed and built the two dog puppets, a plate of foam pastries that looked as though they might tumble down at any moment, and the piece de resistance, an oversized nose costume.
