Who is Wes Crain?

Wes grew up in a rural do-it-yourself household with a mom who put her sewing skills to use making everything from school clothes to quilts to the elaborate antebellum dresses and uniforms that she and Wes's dad would wear to weekend Civil War re-enactments. In fascination Wes watched her work, unwittingly absorbing both mad sewing skills and an appreciation for historical accuracy. That upbringing, along with an inherent love of design and a penchant for storytelling, has led him from volunteering to help out drag queens at Mardi Gras balls in Baton Rouge, through numerous costume shops and theaters in Texas and California, and to his present career in San Francisco as an award-winning Costume Designer of both Musicals and Plays, the Costume Workroom Manager at San Francisco Ballet, and freelance specialty fashion designer. This portfolio chronicles his journey in costuming. You can find out more about Wes's work history here, or you can Contact Wes at info@wescrain.design for potential design work.
