Director Tom Bruett, with whom I'd previously worked on Birds of a Feather, asked me to design this touching romantic comedy written by Philip Dawkins. Tom wanted an "Independent Film" feel to the design, so I selected a palette of warm orange, deep purple, fresh green, hot red, and cerulean blue based on cues from the script and the colors of the flags of the two cities in which the play is set, New York and Montreal. The two leads from the two cities "switch" each other's colors as they fall in love and get to know each other. I also took inspiration from the modular look of the set and gave the costumes lots of patterns of squares and right angles.
