Designer Maggie Whitaker gave me her drawings for Blanch de la Force and some inspirational photos of similar dresses from the period and I set to work. Since I’d never worked in the period and was pressed for time I based the dress pattern off a simplicity French Revolution costume pattern that I altered to look more like the original sketch. The fichu is from the Conservatory’s stock.
