Birds of a Feather

New Conservatory Theatre Center, San Francisco CA, June 2013

Based on the story of Silo and Roy, two real male penguins from New York City’s Central park zoo who hatched and raised a chick together and were immortalized in the children’s book And Tango Makes Three, Birds Of A Feather was funny and engaging--including not only many penguins, but also two hawks, a zookeeper, a bird watcher, and even a cable TV celebrity, among others--and the costumes were a unique challenge. The director wanted the show to be more impressionist than literal, so I created costumes with a bird-like feel that could still be considered appropriate street wear. I thoroughly enjoyed both the project and the play itself.
